Richard J. Orlemanski (2008-11-13)

Richard J. Orlemanski, age 91 yrs, formerly of East 35 St. died Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Forestview Nursing Center.

He was born April 21, 1917, a son of the late Joseph and Louise Chudzinski Orlemanski.

Richard served with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross and Purple Heart. He was employed as an inspector with General Electric Company for 35 years, retiring many yrs. ago. He was a member of St. Luke Church, General Electric Quarter Century Club, a life member of East Erie Turners and Siebenbuerger Club and the Lighted Steeple People at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. He avid gardener, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a Times Old Newsie and attended the 487th Bomb Group Reunions.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Wojtkielewicz Orlemanski, on October 30, 2008, a brother Robert Orlemanski and a sister, Florence Mencz.

Survivors include his children, Carol Doyle husband Thomas of Erie, Richard Orlemanski Jr. wife Karen of Cary, NC, Patricia Whiteley husband Curtis of Richmond VA and Janet Gonzalez husband George of Glen Allen VA; a sister, Anna Schertzer, of Erie; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive. Two sisters in law Helen Orlemanski and Marge Wojtkielewicz and a brother in law Henry “Hank” Wojtkielewicz.



Friends may call at the A. Brugger & Sons Funeral Home, LLP, 845 East 38 St., Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend services there Monday at 12:30 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke Church.
Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
