Joanne McCarthy Root, 76, formerly of Glenwood Park Ave., passed away Wednesday at Fairview Manor.

Born in Erie December 15, 1933 she was a daughter of the late George B. and Ora Marguerite McCarthy. She was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and was a waitress at the Kahkwa Club for over 30 years, retiring 11 years ago. Joanne was a longtime member of the Presque Isle Doll Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, David L. Root, Sr. in 2004.
Survivors include her 5 children, Connie McInturff, husband Bob, of Longwood, FL; Kay Sintal, husband Mike; Joyce Covel, husband Art; David L. Root, Jr., wife Bonnie; and John Root, wife Terri, all of Erie; 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Bernie "Red" McCarthy, of Lake City and Judd McCarthy of Haysville, NC,


Friends may attend a Memorial Service on Thursday, March 4th at 6:00 pm at the Glenwood United Methodist Church, 2931 Myrtle St, Erie. Pa
