Margaret M. "Margie" Trejchel ((Sonoski))

          Margaret M. “Margie” (Sonoski) Trejchel, age 86, of Erie, passed away at her residence, Tuesday, January 1, 2019. Born in Oil City, Pa., January 23, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Veronica (Wolcszyn) Sonoski.

          Margie shared fond memories of her time growing up at St. Joseph’s Home for Children.  Upon graduating from Strong Vincent High School, Margie worked as an assembler at Erie Resistor Corporation.  She married Al in 1960 at St. Casimir Catholic Church and raised five children while working part-time at St. Mary’s Home.  Margie enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino.  She was a staple at Holy Rosary bingo every Monday and Thursday. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Every weekend, you could find Margie at her dining room table playing cards with her grandchildren. Margie loved her cockatiel, Spike. Spike watched Pittsburgh Pirate baseball with her all season. They shared many snacks during the games; especially vanilla ice cream.

          In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Aloysius V. “Al” Trejchel in 2014; four siblings, Kathryn, Frank, Stella, and John Sonoski; her granddaughter, Alison Marya.

          She is survived by five children, Raymond J. Trejchel, wife Tracie, Linda Trejchel, Diane Trejchel, Shirley Vommaro, husband John, all of Erie, and Steven Trejchel, of Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Pierre and Maria Mott, Monica Barber, husband Callum, Ryan Trejchel, Megan Vommaro, Cole Trejchel, Jacob Vommaro, and Luke Trejchel; one great-granddaughter, Millie, and several nieces and nephews.

          Friends are invited to call Friday at Holy Rosary Church, 2701 East Avenue, from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be private at Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery. Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 E. 38th St. is assisting with arrangements.
