Jeanne M. (Weinandy) Wonderly, age 93, of Millcreek Twp., passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Forestview Skilled Nursing Center. Born in Fostoria, Ohio on December 14, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Emma (Marks) Weinandy.
Jeanne was a much-loved Mom and adoring Grandmother with a delightful sense of humor. Her eyes would light up at the sight of those grandchildren. Our family spent many happy times on the back patio being entertained with delicious food, walks in the woods, and lots of fun competitive sports. She was a very caring, kind, and supportive person who always put others first and was available if you needed to talk. Plus, she was the best chocolate chip cookie maker ever. As an avid golfer at the Lawrence Park Golf Club, she even achieved a hole-in-one! She was a skilled ping pong player and an excellent bridge player. She loved music, especially the Big Band era, and performed as a talented organist and singer at the house when G.E. executives or anyone else that liked music visited.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Don T. Wonderly, whom she married in Miami on June 27, 1945 when he returned from the war.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra M. Wurst (fiancé Tim Mockler) of Tampa, Fla. and three sons, Michael P. Wonderly (wife Linda) of Sacramento, Calif., Thomas J. Wonderly (wife Marcia) of Villa Hills, Ky. and James J. Wonderly (wife Trish) of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Chris Wonderly (wife Marta), Kelly Markey, Pam Wurst, Laura Lampron (husband Dirk), Sarah Wise (husband Dan), Austin, Morgan, and Logan Wonderly; four great-grandchildren, Olivia and Peter Wonderly and Camryn and Lindsey Lampron; two sisters Donna Nowak of Wisconsin and Doris Paxton (husband T.J.) of Michigan, plus eight nieces and nephews.
