Jessie N. (King) Nuber, 94, of Erie, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Walnut Creek Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Born February 7, 1923, a daughter of the late John and Alice (Compton) King, on the home farm in Washington Twp.
She graduated from Edinboro High School in 1941 with Honors. After graduation from high school she worked at American Meter Co. as a comptroller where she met her future husband, Norbert “Nubs” Nuber. They were married at St. Ann Church on October 26, 1947. Later in life she worked at Byrd Plastics and Niagara Plastics from where she retired in 1986.
Jessie enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles. For years Jessie, her sisters and brother and later her nephew would meet each Tuesday to play cards and dominos. She was a Pittsburgh Steeler fan, (her husband and sons were avid Brown fans), Jessie and Nubs were stock car fans and every weekend they went to races in Busti, NY., Eriez Speedway or Raceway 7 in Conneaut, OH. She enjoyed watching NASCAR with Rusty Wallace being her favorite driver. She was a former member of First Church of God and Kearsarge Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband Norbert “Nubs” Nuber, in 1986, a daughter, Diane Nuber in 2005, three sisters; Iva Hotchkiss, Anna Palmer, and Elma Dascanio, and three brothers; Gordon King, Jacob “Red” King and Walter King.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Bailey and her husband Robert, two sons; Gary Nuber and his wife Karen and Kenneth Nuber all of Erie, four grandchildren; Kimberly Gustafson (Jamey), Christopher Bailey (Jenn), Kurt Nuber (Mindy), and Erica Kraus (Eric), four great grandchildren; Alissa Bailey, Hayden Nuber, Konnor Kraus and Danika Kraus, one brother, Roger King (Mary) of Spanway, WA., many nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to acknowledge the care and compassion shown our mother by the staff in Neighborhood 2 of Walnut Creek during her time spent there.
No calling hours will be observed. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday April 22, 2017 in the Chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 5711 W. Lake Rd. Erie at 1:00p.m. with Rev. Michael Priestap of McLane Church officiating. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 1600 Peninsula Dr. Suite 15, Erie, Pa. 16505.
