Dan Anthony Perfetto, Sr., age 85, of Erie, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017 surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness at UPMC Hamot. Born in Erie, June 6, 1932, he was a son of the late Pasquale and Phyllis (D’Aurora) Perfetto.

 

          Dan was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was Chief of the Erie Bureau of Refuse and Recycling, where he worked for 44 years. Dan had been a truck driver and member of the local Teamsters Union. He also volunteered for many organizations and was active in the Erie Wolves Club, Den VIII, where he was past president and a national delegate; the Giuseppe Mazzini Civic Association; was a board member of the Greater Erie Charity Golf Classic and a member of St. Paul Church and the Holy Name Society there. He was also very active in St. Paul’s Festival and Celebrate Erie.

 

          In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Danielle Perfetto; a sister, Jeanette M. Cioccio; and by brother in laws, John Meyer, Raymond Meyer and Mario Cioccio.

 

          Dan is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judith Ann “Judy” (Meyer) Perfetto, of Erie; three children, Lisa Ann Perfetto, of Glen Mills, Pa., Dan Anthony Perfetto, Jr. and Leslie Ann Perfetto, both of Erie; four siblings, Frances “Fran” Konkol, husband John, of Erie, Richard Perfetto, wife Kathleen, of The Villages, Fla., James Perfetto, wife Karen, of Erie, and Thomas Perfetto, wife Susan, of The Villages, Fla.; three sisters-in-law, Rica Meyer, of Erie, Clara Meyer, of McKean and Rosanne Meyer, of Harborcreek. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

 

          Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W. 38th St. at Greengarden Blvd., Tuesday from 2 to 7 p.m. and to attend prayers there, Wednesday at 10:15 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at St. Paul Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.

 

          The family would like to thank Dr. Ronaldo Sevilla, the nursing team and the critical care team at UPMC Hamot MICU for the care they provided to Dan and his family. The family also wants to thank Dr. Janus for the many years he provided Dan.
