Marilyn Mae McDonnell McLane, age 80, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 5th, 2017 at Presbyterian Homes at Elmwood Gardens. She was born in Erie, Pa., on September 5th, 1937, daughter of the late Victor Irving and Thelma Mary (Weber) McDonnell.

Marilyn attended Academy High School and worked at several places over the years including the Episcopal Diocese of Northwest Pa, the Erie County Courthouse and finally retiring from Erie Insurance Group.

Marilyn had many interests in life including books, music, theater, gardening and travel but her greatest joy, after family, was volunteering her time to dozens of groups and causes including N.O.W., the Episcopal Women’s Caucus and the Edinboro Faculty Wives Association, to name a few. One of her proudest moments was being selected as President of the Hamot Aid Society, an organization she held near and dear to her heart.

Marilyn was a loving and caring sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She was always eager to offer a helping hand in any way she could to anyone who needed it. Helping others brought her great joy.

Marilyn is survived by her four children, Dana (Roger) Schoen, Kirk (JoAnn) Rastatter, Victoria (Mark) Meucci and Andrew (Julie) Rastatter. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Justin, Erika, Josh, Jack, Joelle and Drew; two great-grandchildren, Daymon and Vincent; a brother, Victor (Joyce) McDonnell; two nieces and one nephew.

A private service will be held at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W. 38th St. handled the arrangements.
