John Chilelli, 67, of Erie, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by his family and friends.  He was born on May 30, 1950 in Erie, son of the late Edward T. “Chickie” and Rose M. (DeLuca) Chilelli.

For those of you who knew Johnny, you would had known of his great sense of humor. His quick and yes, sometimes incredibly corny wit, would oh so many times, make you roll your eyes but leave you laughing.  He was a very intelligent man who led his life with a strong and steadfast purpose, simply following Gods word. His faith was so strong and pure, and he lived his life in the joy of God’s great love. In his early 20’s, Johnny lost his gift of sight and had to endure and face many obstacles and challenges, but still he did not falter. He picked up his new disability and adapted with bravery and trust. He turned to his love of music and became quite an accomplished musician. He learned and played many instruments.  He even met and was honored to jam with the late BB King and held the famous ‘Lucille’, a moment he spoke of often and fondly.

He played the keyboards with his cousin Joey for the band, Sound Incorporated, and continued on to become owner and operator of his own business,John Chilelli’s Piano and Tuning Services.

John was a gentle, yet determined man, who loved his family and friends with his whole heart. He is going to be greatly missed, but the music of his soul can now forever and eternally play on in heaven above, in a symphony of a man who truly touched so many.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan (Dichter) Chilelli; sister, Charlene Chilelli, a brother, James Chilelli, and brother in law, Dave Curry.

He is survived by his sisters, Jeanne Curry and Becky Henry and her husband, Dan; nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
