William Basil Demyanovich, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital.  He was born in Erie on October 17, 1930 a son of the late Frank and Eva (Guzak) Demyanovich.

Bill was a graduate of East High School and went on to serve in the Air Force during the Korean War.  He worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal service until his retirement in 1997.

Bill was a member of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church.  He enjoyed sports, the outdoors, gardening, and planting flowers.  He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.  He was a wonderful husband, father and mentor, grandfather, and friend to all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Mary Bahr, Helen Lewis, Anne Liebel, Frank Demyanovich Jr., Michael Demyanovich Sr., John Demyanovich, George Demyanovich, and an infant brother Stephen Demyanovich.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Joanne (Evanoff) Demyanovich; his sons, William Demyanovich (Amy), Eric Demyanovich (Karen), David Demyanovich (Donna), and Charles “Chip” Demyanovich (Suzanne) of Erie; a brother, Paul Demyanovich (Mary Ellen) of Erie; six grandchildren, Amber (Sean), Chad, Morgan, Anna, Henry, and Nicholas; a cousin, Mary Perry; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th St. on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 pm until the time of a Panachida service at 8 pm. Further services will be held at the funeral home Monday at 11:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at noon at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 1123 East Ave.  Internment at Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.
