      Dorson P. Hamilton, age 89, of Millcreek, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Manchester Commons. He was born in Albion on July 6, 1928 a son of the late Oran and June (Hochadel) Hamilton.

      Dorson was an insurance salesman for Prudential Insurance Company for over 32 years. While at Prudential he was widely recognized for his achievements in the Central Atlantic region surpassing annual sales quotas enabling him to attend the yearly conference trip.  He was a longtime parishioner and usher at Our Lady of Peace Church.  Dorson was a train fanatic that was fascinated with locomotives and traveled on trains whenever he could.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing poker, travelling, and more recently bingo.  Dorson also enjoyed sitting on his front porch watching his yearly crop of tomatoes grow.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Ann Billak; sisters, Virginia Fratalia and Gladys Folk; and a brother, James Hamilton.

      Dorson is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen (Bristol) Hamilton; two daughters, Gayle Straub, husband Gary, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and Kathy Hamilton of Erie; four grandchildren Carrie Childers, Amanda Byrdic, Rachel Billak and Alexander Billak; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

      Friends are invited to call on Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Blvd.  A service will be held there on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of Peace Church at 11 a.m.  Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

      Dorson’s family would like to especially thank the nurses and aides at Manchester Commons for their care and compassion during his time there.
