Marianna Martucci Zambroski, age 88, of Erie, died at home Saturday, May 05, 2018. Born in Kane, December 10, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Aurileo and Nicolette Martucci.

Marianna’s legacy was first, her love for her deceased husband Anthony, (Tony), her children, grandchildren, her horses, and cats. She was a unique individual with a big personality who was always way ahead of her time. As one of the first women, she fought for and received maternity leave as a teacher in Pennsylvania. She also applied for a High School Head Football Coaching position but was turned down because she could not enter the locker room. Teaching Mechanical Drawing and Architecture in a male dominated field at McDowell High School for over 36 years, many of her students would credit her for their choice to pursue their Architectural Careers. As an avid thoroughbred owner, and breeder, with Tony, it was only appropriate she once again joined with her husband on Derby Day.

Survivors include her four children, John Zambroski, wife, Billie, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Mara Holtzman, of Harrisburg, Lauren Zagnit, husband, Bruce, of Harrisburg and Kiki Borst, husband, Dr. Jeff, of Erie; a sister, Francis (Penny) Martucci, husband, Fernando, of Arizona; nine grandchildren, Erin (Zambroski) Adams, husband, Chris, Laura, Gregory, wife, Lindsay and Elizabeth Holtzman, Sara and Emily Zagnit and Anthony, Nicoletta and Maria Borst. Two great granddaughters Charlotte and Scarlett Holtzman.

Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W. 38th St., at Greengarden Blvd., Thursday from 4 - 8 p. m., and to attend prayers there Friday at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Cathedral. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery.
