Ruth (Eisert) Kissell, age 94, of Erie, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 at UPMC Hamot Hospital. Born in Erie, July 2, 1923, she was a twin daughter of the late Edwin and Regina (McCormick) Eisert.

        Ruth was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School, class of 1941, and attended college at Carnegie Tech. She was a veteran of the U. S. Navy attaining the rank of Pharmacist Mate during WW II. After her discharge she worked at the Erie Foundry and later for the Army Airforce draft board. Ruth was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Church. She loved dancing, jigsaw puzzles and playing bingo.

        In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, John J. Kissell, Jr., in 2002; her twin sister, Regina Koval; and a nephew, Michael Hanel

        Survivors include her son, Matthew Kissell, wife Cheryl, and two grandchildren, Brian Kissell, and his wife Toni and Sara Ziegler, and her husband Michael all of Erie; a sister, Cae Hanel of Parma, Oh., four great-grandchildren, Madison Ahl, Benjamin Kissell, Jaxon Ziegler and Noah Kissell.

Ruth’s family would like to thank everyone at Hamot Hospital for the care and compassion they extended to Ruth and her family.

        Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W. 38th St. at Greengarden Blvd., Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m., and may attend prayers there, Wednesday at 8:45 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.

        In lieu of Flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Jude School, 606 Lowell Ave., Erie, PA  16505.
