          Donald John (Bartosiewicz) Bartos, age 85 of Erie, passed away at UPMC Hamot Hospital on Monday, May 14, 2018.  He was born in Erie on December 19, 1932 the son of the late John and Eleanor Bartosiewicz (Bartos).

          He graduated from East High School in 1951 where he participated in track and football.  He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.  He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.  Don married Loretta (Bugaj) and she passed away in 1982. In 1989 he married his present wife, Lois (Oncea) Bartos.   He attended Blessed Sacrament Church and was a former member of St. Luke Church.  He was a long-time member of the Society of the Holy Trinity Club. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing in Lake Erie on his boat “The Puddle Jumper” and working crossword puzzles.   He liked listening to polka music, especially Jimmy Sturr and his orchestra and many years of going on polka trips and dancing.

          He retired from the GE after 25 years of employment in 1995.

          Don is the father of Lydia VanBenthuysen (Danie) of Kissimmee Florida, Keith Bartos (Lyn) and John Bartos (Jeanne) both of Erie and the late Dean Bartos; the brother of Luella Bartos of Erie; the grandfather of Loni VanBenthuysen of Kissimmee, Florida, Loretta Landis (Jason) of North East and Jed Bartos and great grandfather of Danny Landis.  Don is the step father of Debbie Morton, Darlene Beganics, Michelle Fladd, Brian Beganics (Trina), all of Erie and Dedriene Adams of Mobile, Al., numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

          The family would like to thank Dr. Ronald Sevilla and the nursing staff at UPMC 5th floor ICU, especially Morgan, Catherine and Andrew for all their care and concern during his recent stay.

          Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 3 until 8 pm at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Blvd., and are invited to attend the funeral mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1626 West 26th Street on Friday at 9 am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
