Gretchen Louise Greiner, age 30, of Indiana, PA and formerly of Harborcreek passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 after a brief illness.  She was born in Erie, PA on December 11, 1987 a daughter of Paul and Becky (Walter) Greiner.

She was a 2006 graduate of Harborcreek High School where she was in the marching band.  She played trumpet for the Lake Erie Fanfare and toured nationally achieving the title of Midwest Champions. Gretchen enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and the outdoors.   Gretchen earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Gannon University.  She worked at UPMC Hamot on the 4th floor and most recently worked as a Critical Care Nurse at Specialty Select Hospital in Latrobe, PA. 

She was a courageous and brave young woman who answered the call to be a nurse.  She literally saved the lives of others through her wisdom and skills, and did so with caring, compassion, and kindness. The lives she couldn't save, she gave her all to ease the suffering of others by her gentle touch, her comforting presence, and support to family left behind.  She was a role model, mentor, and a leader.  She was truly respected as a great nurse.

She is survived by her parents, Paul and Becky Greiner, two sisters, Heidi Watson and Maria “Skooch” Greiner and her companion Lauren Gaynord.

Friends are invited to call on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 until the time of a service at 8:30 pm with Rev. James McCormick at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th Street.  Burial will be private.
