Charles “Chuck ”A. Buscemi, “Papa”, 87, of Harborcreek, formerly of “The West 28th Street Crew”, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018 at UPMC Hamot.  He shared birthdays with his son Brian. Chuck was born April 8, 1931 to the late Leonard and Frances (Solazzo) Buscemi. He was born and raised on West 17th Street in Little Italy.

Charles, a dedicated family man, worked at the Fish Commission, Erie County Farms and retired from Firch Baking Company. Chuck played Santa at the Millcreek Mall.  After retirement he was “The crossing guard” at West 26th Street and Greengarden Blvd. He crossed “his” kids and waved to everyone that passed by for over 20 years. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Chuck was a fan of western and war movies and John Wayne was his favorite actor. He loved to go dancing, followed Chubby Checker, and enjoyed doing the “Twist”. At every family wedding, Celebration by Kool and the Gang had to be played. He was always out gallivanting with his wife, Joanne for a hot cup of coffee. He was an avid penny poker player and was always ready to play cards.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joanne (Becker) Buscemi to whom he was married 55 years; brothers Joseph, Leonard and Peter  Buscemi and an infant sister Rosaria and his cousin Joe (Skip) Solazzo.
