          James "Stubey" Stubenhofer, 73, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 1st, 2018 at his home. Born in Erie on August 16, 1945, he was the son of the late Norman and Anne (Spiegel) Stubenhofer.

          Jim graduated from Cathedral Prep and went on to complete an apprenticeship which he utilized for over 43 years as a tool and die maker at Twinbrook Tool & Mold/The West Company.  He also served as a medic in the U. S. Army National Guard.  Jim loved spending time with family and friends and his smile lit up any room he entered. He was always there to offer support and also enjoyed lending a helping hand to family and friends when needed.  He enjoyed following his beloved Browns and Indians and was the greatest fan for all of his children and grandchildren's sporting endeavors. 

          In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Norman Stubenhofer and a nephew, Capt. Mark Stubenhofer. 

          Jim is survived by his wife Karen (Summers) Stubenhofer of 40 years, his daughter April (Bryan) Sweeney, his daughter Jamie (Jay) Breneman, his son Jason (Susie) Stubenhofer, and his son Jimmy (Erin) Stubenhofer. He is also survived by his many loving grandchildren: Kristyn (Eli), Kara, Mitchell, Elijah, Brady, Paige, Ian, Milo, and Max. He is also survived by his brother Jerry (Kathy) Stubenhofer, sister-in-law Sallie Stubenhofer, along with several nieces and nephews. 

          Friends may visit on Thursday, December 6th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 845 E 38th Street at Pine Avenue.  A prayer service will be held there on Friday, December 7th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 509 E 26th Street.  Burial will follow at Mary Queen of Peace Cemetery.
