          Leo B. Ul, of Penn Valley, Ca. died December 26, 2018 at the age of 97.  Leo was born in Erie May 11, 1921.

          Preceding Leo to heaven was his wife of 74 years, Jean, his son Daniel, as well as his parents and 4 siblings. During World War II Leo volunteered to be a waist gunner flying in B24’s over Southern Europe taking only 9 months to complete his 50 missions. In Erie, he owned a sporting goods store and later worked for Leonard Niederiter Co.  Moving to Corry, he owned a furniture & appliance store and learned to fly and owned a single engine Piper Cub airplane for several years. Returning to Erie he worked for and retired from Duggan’s Appliance Store as a Sales Manager. In retirement, Leo ran a lawn cutting service and repaired small engines for many years.  Leo’s passions were hunting, trapping, fishing and gardening. He was also a longtime member of the S.O.N.S. of Lake Erie, a sports organization.

           Surviving Leo are his son Thomas and his wife Gayle Ul in Waterford; his daughter Barbara and her husband Larry Burns in Penn Valley, Calif.; 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.  He is loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

          Funeral arrangements are being handled by Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory,1595 W 38th St. at Greengarden Blvd. Viewing will be Friday, January 4 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral will be held at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 W. 38th St. Saturday on January 5 at 10 AM. Burial services with military honors will be at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. A reception will follow.
