Susan Tann, loving wife, mother and Nana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, with her family by her side at St Vincent Hospital. She was reunited in Heaven with her adoring husband, Gerald Tann.

Born Susan Mary Leach on June 12, 1930 to her parents James and Marie (Greulich) Leach, she attended St. Andrew’s Elementary School, followed by secondary school at Villa Maria Academy, graduating in 1948.  Susan and Gerald were married in 1952 and began their life together in Cocoa Beach, Florida. They were happily married for 49-1/2 years. Together, they enjoyed many wonderful years raising a family, boating on Lake Erie and vacationing in Florida.

Susan was always active and full of life. During the Korean War, she served as a civilian secretary to the Base Commander of Patrick Air Force Base. After returning to Erie, she worked as a secretary at Hammermill Paper, Villa Maria Academy and as a Sales Associate/Interior Decorator for 20 years with the Bath Boutique.

Susan and Gerald were founding members of St Jude the Apostle Church. Susan volunteered with Meals on Wheels and St Vincent Hospital. She was a dedicated member of many local Bridge clubs, golf, and bowling leagues. Susan loved her Faith, family, and friends; her greatest joy was her grandchildren.    

In addition to her parents and husband, Susan was preceded in death by her two sisters, Marilyn Carnes and Joan Manuella, and a son-in-law, Carmen DeSanti.

Survivors include four children, Rebecca M. DeSanti of New Philadelphia, PA, Mary C. O’Camb her husband Tom of Erie, James A. Tann his wife Judy of Canton, OH and Chris G. Tann his wife Jennifer Breese of Bloomington, IN; six grandchildren, Jay Tann, his fiancée Allison Meyerhoff, Jon O’Camb, his wife Catherine, Jamie Barnes, her husband Matt, Joe Tann, his fiancée Kelly Sklenar, Caroline Tann and Katrina Tann.  Susan is also survived by numerous  nieces, nephews, cousins, many loving friends and caregivers at St. Mary’s Asbury Ridge also survive.

Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. at Greengarden Boulevard on Sunday from 4 to 7 pm., a service will be held there on Monday at 10:15 am. followed by a funeral mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church at 11 am.
