     Esther E. (Madura) Wieczorek, age 87, of Erie, a resident of Barnabas House at Brevillier Village passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018 at UPMC Hamot.  Born in Erie on August 7, 1930 she was a daughter of the late John and Rozalia (Stempka) Madura.

     Esther graduated from Villa Maria Academy in 1949 and from nursing school.  She worked as an RN for Dr. Don McNeil for many years.

     She was a longtime parishioner at St. Joseph Church, Bread of Life Community where she acted as a greeter and collection counter for many years.  Her luck and generosity constantly revolved as she would give away her frequent winnings because she knew that they would eventually be returned ten-fold.  She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Browns as well as Duke basketball.

     Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert J. Wieczorek, in 2013; two grandsons, Paul and Robbie Weber; and seven brothers and five sisters.

     Survivors include four sons, David Wieczorek, wife Paula, Gary Wieczorek, wife Sally, Robert Wieczorek, wife Mary Ann, and Brian Wieczorek, wife Karen, all of Erie; nine grandchildren, Amy DiTullio, Laura Kain, Jason Wieczorek, Robert Wieczorek, Jr., Emily Smith, Allie Dempsey, Carey Wieczorek, Rick Weber, and Erich Roache; and many great grandchildren.

     Friends may call on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, Pine Avenue Branch, 845 East 38th St. Services will be held there on Friday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Bread of Life of Community, 147 West 24th St.  Interment will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
